Dharamshala Dalhousie Tour Package
How We'd Travel As Locals —

Detailed Day-by-Day Route & Itinerary
✓ 100% Customizable On RequestDelhi to Dharamshala — Overnight Journey
Dharamshala Arrival and Local Sightseeing
In McLeod Ganj, visit the Dalai Lama Temple and explore the surrounding Tibetan area. There are cafés and a few pubs, but the roads are narrow and there’s plenty of traffic and honking. Friends, solo travellers and people who enjoy nightlife may enjoy this area more. For families and couples, Bhagsu and the Dalai Lama Temple are usually the main attractions.
Next, visit Bhagsunag Temple and Bhagsu Waterfall. There’s a short walking trail from the temple to the waterfall. The open swimming pool at Bhagsu can be a good option in summer; in winter the water will be very cold—but if you’re a swimming lover, go for it! Watch your step if the trail is wet and slippery.
Optional stops, if time allows: Dharamkot is better enjoyed as a two- or three-day stay than as a brief stop. Dharamshala’s Dal Lake is small and may be undergoing work, so check its status before visiting. Stop if you want social media photos; otherwise, you won’t miss a major attraction by skipping it. Naddi is nice for sunset, but if you’re visiting both Dharamshala and Dalhousie, I’d skip it. It’s mainly about cafés and the views.
Kangra Devi Shakti Peeth, Chamunda Devi, Jwala Ji Shakti Peeth and Baijnath Shiva Temple are also separate religious stops. If you want to paraglide in Bir Billing, add an extra day. Trying to fit it into this day can disrupt both your sightseeing and your time to relax.
Dharamshala to Dalhousie via Jot Pass and Khajjiar
Then stop at Khajjiar. Enjoy the meadow and the surrounding mountain views, spend a little time there and take photos. There’s no need to oversell it; it’s simply one of those places you should see at least once.
Add Kalatop only if it’s sunny and you’d like to sit at an open-terrace café and look towards the Chamba Valley mountains. If it’s cold or cloudy, sitting there may not be as enjoyable. And if you’re travelling via Jot Pass, my local advice is that you can skip Kalatop—the Jot route already gives you good views. Reach Dalhousie by evening and rest at your hotel.
Dalhousie Local Sightseeing and Overnight Journey to Delhi
If you enjoy walking, take the Ganji Pahari trek; allow around 2–3 hours for the round trip. You can then visit Subhash Baoli. Local accounts say that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose came here to recover from illness before independence and drank water from the spring. It may be less crowded, and parking may be easier to find, though cleanliness isn’t always guaranteed.
Spend the evening around Gandhi Chowk and the local market—this is Dalhousie’s main market. Add Subhash Chowk and the churches only if you enjoy exploring on foot. Parking is a major headache, and the narrow roads can make it difficult to stop the car at some places. If you don’t enjoy walking, skip them. In the evening, board your overnight Volvo to Delhi from your confirmed pickup point. You’ll arrive in Delhi the following morning.
Delhi Arrival and the Journey Back Home
From the bus terminal, head directly to your onward transit hub—whether boarding a connecting flight at IGI Airport, catching an outstation train from New Delhi Railway Station, or hailing a cab toward your doorstep.
