Kinnaur Tour Package

If you want to explore Kinnaur, there are basically countless stunning valleys to explore. Some of the most famous places include Chitkul, Sangla, Kalpa, and Nako; and if you are a trekking enthusiast, there is the sacred Kinner Kailash trek or the world's highest Krishna temple at Yulla Kanda. In the mountains, every single valley is a whole new world altogether! However, the classic destinations that have great tourist infrastructure and roads are Kalpa, Chitkul, Sarahan, and Sangla.

You can easily cover this breathtaking region in 4 days starting from Chandigarh (if you are traveling from Delhi, just add 1 more day). Your road trip plan should ideally look like this:

On the first day, travel from Chandigarh to Sarahan. En route, passing through Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda, Hatu Temple, Tani Jubbar Lake, and Rampur Bushahr, you will reach Sarahan. Relax and stay the night here. Make sure to choose an accommodation at a higher elevation or one with an open view, because in Sarahan, the exact location of your stay matters a lot!

The next morning, seek blessings at the sacred Bhimakali Temple and begin your forward journey. As you cross the iconic rock-cut Kinnaur Gate, you will pass the Bhaba Valley turn, Taranda Mata Temple, and Karcham Dam before entering Sangla. In Sangla, there is the historic Kamru Fort—if you wish, you can visit it by doing a short uphill walk. Beyond this lies an expansive scenic valley. During winter, Sangla is the best base to stay because roads further ahead often close due to heavy snow. Next comes Batseri—a beautiful valley with lovely homestays; if you wish to experience staying in a traditional Kinnauri village, you can pause here.

Then comes Rakchham, situated just 5 to 6 kilometers before Chitkul, where you will find some great luxury stay options. However, our personal favorite is Chitkul itself! At the very last edge of the village, there is an incredible campsite where the views are mind-blowing and staying there is pure bliss. Every single guest of ours who has stayed at this spot has told us, "Brother, there is nothing quite like this!" These are PP Camps and Nargu Camps—an unbeatable location! There isn't any rigid tourist "checklist" to tick off here; the entire drive from Sangla to Chitkul is an awe-inspiring panorama in itself. In Chitkul, you can sit peacefully by the Baspa riverside and click pictures, and if you want to test your stamina, you can do the short Flag Trek.

The next day, after soaking in Chitkul, you retrace the scenic valley route past Rakchham and drive towards Kalpa. Here too, your hotel's location and balcony view matter immensely. For sightseeing, you have the main heritage town of Kalpa, the thrilling Suicide Point with its sheer vertical cliff drop, and an ancient temple in the nearby village of Pangi that you can visit.

The following day, after enjoying Kalpa, begin your return journey back to Chandigarh. If you have extra days in hand, you can extend your road trip further to explore the pristine Ropa Valley and frozen Nako Lake, or if you prefer avoiding a long, tiring single-day drive, you can take a relaxing night halt in Shimla.
